How much does each unit size cost?
These are standard monthly rates, before promotions, from the websites of the 89 Toronto facilities we track. The median is the middle price: half of facilities charge less, half more.
| Unit | Fits roughly | Median | Middle half |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5×5 | Boxes, seasonal gear, a small dresser or a bike | $121 | $107–$152 |
| 5×10 | A studio apartment's contents without major appliances, or a mattress set, dresser and boxes | $170 | $156–$195 |
| 10×10 | A one-bedroom apartment: bed, sofa, dining set and boxes | $316 | $282–$355 |
| 10×15 | A two-bedroom apartment or small house, including some appliances | $429 | $345–$477 |
| 10×20 | A three-bedroom home, or a car with room to spare | $640 | $555–$715 |
Not sure which size you need? The size guide draws all five to the same scale.
How do prices differ by district?
For a 10×10, Scarborough has the lowest median we track ($269) and Old Toronto the highest ($401). If you drive, a facility one district over can save money every month.
| District | Facilities | Median 10×10 |
|---|---|---|
| Scarborough | 25 | $269 |
| Etobicoke | 15 | $282 |
| East York | 7 | $286 |
| North York | 21 | $351 |
| Old Toronto | 17 | $401 |
How much do promotions actually save?
76% of the unit prices we collected came with a move-in promotion. A typical offer discounts the first month or two. After that you pay the standard rate, so that's the number to compare. Treat the promotion as a one-off saving on top.
How do you compare weekly and four-week rates?
75% of the rates we read were quoted per week. Weekly quotes look smaller than they are. To compare like with like:
| Quoted as | Multiply by | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Per week | 4.33 | $70/week ≈ $303/month |
| Per four weeks | 1.08 | $280/4 weeks ≈ $303/month |
| Per month | 1 | $303/month |
Four-week billing means thirteen bills a year, not twelve. Every price on FindStorage.ca is already converted to monthly.
What other costs should you ask about?
- Insurance. Most facilities want proof of coverage. Check your home or tenant policy before buying the facility's plan.
- A lock. Some facilities require a specific type.
- A one-time admin fee when you sign up.
- Rate increases. Ask how much notice you get before the standard rate changes.
Each location page here shows any rates we've collected, the features it offers, and a link to book.
Where do these prices come from?
We read standard monthly rates from each operator's website every week, most recently on 2026-10-15, convert weekly and four-week rates to monthly, and keep promotions separate. A district or size figure appears only when at least three facilities publish a price. The full method is on the methodology page, and the numbers are in the price index.
