How are visits counted?
When a page is requested, our hosting server sends a page-view record to Google Analytics so we can see which pages are useful. Nothing runs in your browser to do this. Each record contains:
- the page address, including anything typed into the site's search box,
- the page you came from, if your browser shares it,
- an approximate location (city, region and country), worked out by our host from your network address,
- the type of device (phone, tablet or computer),
- a visitor code that changes every day.
The visitor code is a one-way scramble of your network address and browser type, mixed with a secret that only our host knows and with the date. It lets us count how many different people visited on a given day without being able to tell who they are or connect today's visit to tomorrow's. We don't keep your network address, and it isn't sent to Google; Google only sees requests from our host's servers. Our host, Vercel, keeps its own short-lived request logs to run the service.
What happens when you follow a link to an operator?
Operator websites, booking pages and map directions are run by those companies, and their own privacy policies apply.
